What you'd do

This position is located in the Information Technology Architecture Office (ITAO), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). As an Enterprise Architecture, the incumbent will focus on the hardware, software, network, and security infrastructure that enables the technology and information architecture that support the business processes and information needs of the NIH and its Institutes/Centers (ICs).

Major duties

Develop and execute a communication and education plan for the assigned enterprise architecture practice. Provide internal management consultation on the enterprise architecture practice. Analyze data, information management, operating models, market trends and the enterprise industry to determine their potential impact on the enterprise’s technology strategy, direction and architecture. Lead the development of a portfolio of enterprise architecture consulting services, designed to meet organizational and stakeholder needs. Manage enterprise architecture implementation, continuous improvement and ongoing refinement activities. Participate in developing security strategy, plans, roadmaps, procedures, and standards based on sound enterprise architecture practices.

What you need to qualify

You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: Have IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that I possess each of the following four competencies: 1. Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; 4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as: developing enterprise architecture models, technology roadmaps, standards, and principles; advising senior leadership on architecture and IT strategy; conducting analyses of current and future-state technology environments; developing, managing, and executing enterprise architecture, IT portfolios, plans and strategies to support a biomedical research organization; and facilitating innovation opportunities to support business strategies.
