Program Support Specialist
What you'd do
This position is located in Everglades National Park, in the South Florida Natural Resources Center (SFNRC). This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 year, and can be extended up to 5 years.
Major duties
This position serves a critical role at the South Florida Natural Resouces Center (SFNRC) within Everglades National Park, serving in the following roles: Directs the financial planning development efforts for the SFNRC and oversees and tracks SFNRC expenditures by serving as liaison between SFNRC staff and the Director. Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and processes for all aspects of the SFNRC administrative activities. This duty requires interpretation of various federal administrative policies to make sure that the developed SOPs to facilitate the work of the SFNRC are compatible with agency and unit policies. Directs all SFNRC procurement activities needed to acquire supplies, equipment, materials, and service contracts while assuring work is done through proper sources, with appropriate documentation and justifications. Directs the preparation and tracking of all contracts and assistance agreements needed by the SFNRC and works closely with the Major Acquisition Buying Office during all phases. Directs the human resources function for the SFNRC, providing specific guidance on personnel matters for the SFNRC management team and staff while implementing initiatives to foster a positive work environment and promote collaboration among staff. Directly supervises management analysts and administrative support assistants while directly working with a budget analyst.

You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/22/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Budget and financial management of a large organization; Development of standard operating and administrative procedures for a large organization; Advisory and human resources liaison roles to management; Acquisition and procurement (contracting and purchasing) and assistance agreements; or facilities management. Your resume must include hours worked per week or you will not be given credit for any specialized experieince and will be found not qualified. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
