What you'd do

You will serve as a Production Controller (Ships) in the LHD/LHA Project Office, Code 154 of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.

Major duties

You will coordinate, monitor, and expedite the efforts of SUPSHIP office and supporting NAVSEA activities throughout the ship construction period, focusing on events necessary to assume timely delivery ship delivery. You will monitor the development and installation of the ship's systems, testing of these systems, and readiness of these systems for certification and delivery. You will review shipboard systems performance and other contractual documentation to assure shipboard systems and contractual performance completeness and compliance. You will monitor the activities and problems confronting the shipbuilder and various SUPSHIP Gulf Coast departments by conducting regular conferences and establishing a reporting system to keep Code 154 and others informed of ship status and issues. You will review engineering proposals, requests for waivers, and requests for deviations and specification change notices. You will monitor and evaluate progress for shipbuilding contract, including physical progress, shipbuilder man-hours expended and key event data and schedules. You will conduct on-site reviews and surveys as necessary. You will coordinate the accomplishment of authorized new or modified work by the Contractor.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying knowledge of shipbuilding techniques, procedures, and contract requirements to analyze, interpret, and understand design drawings and material requirements for the development of production plans and forecasts in support of shipbuilding projects and operations.
