What you'd do

You will serve as a Financial Management Analyst in the Office of the Judge Advocate General (OJAG) of the Navy and Commander, Naval Legal Service Command NLSC. Vacancies filled from this announcement may be filled at any grade level listed.

Major duties

You will perform or advise on work in any of the phases or systems of budget administration. You will formulate budgets and estimates to support plans, programs, and activities, to include presenting and defending budget estimates. You will analyze and recommend costs and benefits of alternative methods of financial management for the organization's programs and administrative operations. You will implement legal and regulatory controls over approved budgets. You will provide advice on effective and efficient methods for the acquisition and use of funds. You will develop and interpret budgetary policies and practices.

What you need to qualify

GS-9 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: Performing complex budget analysis, formulating financial plans, and executing fund controls independently; Extracting and analyzing complex financial data using integrated systems (such as Navy ERP); Interpreting and applying Federal Appropriations Law and DoD regulations; Evaluating budget execution reports, tracing "cradle-to-grave" transactions, identifying financial anomalies, and formulating actionable corrective plans to resolve internal control weaknesses or execution bottlenecks; Delivering policy briefings to command leadership; and 6. Translating dense financial metrics into clear resource recommendations. GS-7 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: Analyzing budgets, formulating financial plans, and executing fund controls; Extracting and analyzing financial data using integrated systems (such as Navy ERP); Understanding Federal Appropriations Law and DoD regulations; Evaluating budget execution reports, tracing "cradle-to-grave" transactions, and identifying financial anomalies; and Assisting with translating financial metrics into clear resource recommendations.
