About the Position: This position is located within David Grant Medical Center, 60th Medical Group, Travis AFB. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
Major duties
Plan the activities of the medical records program (to include paper and electronic media), ensuring that medical records administration complies with legal and regulatory requirements Develop goals and objectives that integrate organization and medical records objectives. Establish policies and procedures for accomplishment of medical records administration. Assign work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirement of assignments. Assess policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work. Implement and monitor the records section's quality assurance program. Recommend awards for non-supervisory personnel and changes in position classification to higher level managers. Discharge security responsibilities by ensuring education and compliance with security directives for employees with access to classified or sensitive material.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) assisting with the development of medical records programs; 2) reviewing medical records for accuracy and/or completeness; and 3) coordinating workload for subordinate staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
