INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST
What you'd do
You will serve as a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST in the INFORMATION TECHHNOLOGY SERVICES DEPARTMENT (N6) of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.
Major duties
You will provide the Commanding Officer and other personnel with a need to know with information about new or revised Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures and their impact on the command. You will acquire, monitor and maintain command COMSEC material allowance to include a semiannual review of all COMSEC material holdings to ensure that there is a continuing need for the quantity and types of all COMSEC materials held. You will ensure alternate manager(s) remain informed of the status of the account so that the alternate(s) are always fully capable of assuming the duties in the absence of the Key Management Infrastructure Operating Manager (KOAM). You will conduct training to ensure that all personnel, including remote Local Elements (Les), handling COMSEC material are familiar with and adhere to proper COMSEC procedures. You will ensure prompt and accurate preparation, signature, and submission of account correspondence, message, and accounting reports. You will verify the security clearance of all personnel prior to granting them access to/issuing them COMSEC material. You will execute TS/SCI indoctrinations/debriefs, document in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS), mail the original Nondisclosure Agreements to Special Security Officer (SSO) NAVY. You will coordinate with the SSO on the various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and ADHOC requirements. You will generate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Instructions, and other regulatory guidance relating to COMSEC material and equipment in the SCIF.
What you need to qualify
To qualify for a GS-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with destruction, inventory, issuing, and using COMSEC material. Experience with physical security, verifying security clearances, and the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility indoctrination process. Experience demonstrating the knowledge and ability to work independently to plan and organize COMSEC activities of some complexity and determine the most appropriate principles, practices, and methods to execute all tasks.
