Training Instructor (Training Aids/Devices/Simulators and Simulations)
What you'd do
About the Position: Works under the general supervision of the Training Services Branch Chief, who provides overall objectives, goals and priorities. Independently plans and carries out training sessions within prescribed course framework.
Major duties
Conducts studies to analyze mission objectives, policies, work operations and progress, resources estimates and usage of any other associated aspects of operating programs. Operates simulators, such as Call For Fire Trainer, EST 2000, CDT, HEAT and various components of the MILES/TADSS program in support of customer training. Performs training support and services for the customer base in training instruction, training requirements in support of peacetime and train up for deployment, property accountability, and preventive maintenance. Makes recommendations on format and design for classroom materials or briefing items.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes experience instructing military and civilian personnel on the deployment, operations to ensure high-fidelity training preparedness and mission readiness; evaluating training curricula, and courseware materials to identify training gaps; troubleshooting simulator hardware and software discrepancies to minimize system downtime; conducting training instruction on virtual simulators to certify personnel and update course materials in alignment with established training objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
