Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operating) (Seasonal)
What you'd do
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is October through April but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: October 2026 Open to the first 50 applicants. Major duties
Major Duties: Operate large, complex, riding lawns mowers that have multiple or controlled cutting decks and other types of equipment i.e., lawn edging equipment, trimmers, blowers, etc. Perform labor requiring incumbent to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Digs ditches, cleans gutters, shovels snow, etc. Uses hand and power tools to assist in carpentry, plumbing etc. Performs duties such as custodial, maintenance, and groundwork as needed. Uses equipment and tools for paved and unpaved road maintenance. The following information applies to Death Valley National Park duty location: "In employing individuals to perform any construction, maintenance, interpretation, or other service in the park, the Secretary (Selecting Official) shall, in so far as practical, give first preference to qualified members of the Tribe": (Timbisha Shoshone Homeland Act, Nov 2000). To receive current preference eligibility, members of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe must submit a copy (not the original) of the letter certifying their tribal membership.

Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
