EXHIBITS SPECIALIST
What you'd do
You will serve as an Exhibit Specialist (Graphics) for the Naval History and Hertiage Command at the National Museum of the U.S. Navy.
Major duties
You will utilize Computer Aided Drafting and Design technology (such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) to expedite changes in exhibit design and concept planning in alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act and conservation guidelines. You will specify the size and style of type for banners, titles, captions, and artifact placement used in specialized history museum exhibits. You will design the layout of graphic elements of complex history museum exhibits. You will design the layout of brochures, pamphlets, and other printed materials related to exhibitions, museum educational programs, and in support of the museum's mission. You will obtain estimates from vendors and ensure quality control of image output. You will collaborate with other museum professionals on the planning and creation of exhibits.
What you need to qualify
GS-11 LEVEL: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-9) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Utilizing a variety of methods, techniques, and materials to independently plan and produce aesthetically composed visual products for a museum; 2. Overseeing the design of brochures, pamphlets, educational materials, and other printed material associated with museum exhibits; 3. Consulting, collaborating, and designing with other museum professionals on the planning and creation of museum exhibits; 4. Demonstrating experience with printing graphics and preparing files for production; 5. Overseeing the design of digital graphics for use on the website and social media. GS-09 LEVEL: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-7) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Utilizing a variety of methods, techniques, and materials to plan and produce aesthetically composed visual products; 2. Designing the layout of brochures, pamphlets and other printed material associated with museum exhibits; 3. Consulting, collaborating, and designing with other museum professionals in order to assist with the planning and creation of museum exhibits.
