Major duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Administrative Support Assistants standard duties Perform administrative and clerical support work for the organization in which the position resides. The incumbent performs a full range of administrative support assignments as well as standardized and non-standardized clerical assignments. Additional Duties at the GS 6 level Provides direct assistance to specialists or analysts and/or processes a wide variety of transactions for more than one type of assigned activity or functional specialization. The incumbent is regularly tasked with independently resolving recurring clerical issues and problems in office administration. Additional Duties at the GS 7 Independently perform a wide variety of functions related to budget and finance, human resources, natural resources, travel, timekeeping/payroll, correspondence, records, collections, and public contact.

What you need to qualify

No assumptions will be made about your experience. GS-5: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include assisting with general correspondence, entering time and attendance records in an automated payroll system, aiding in the entering of data and entering of records, inventories, and dispositions in accordance with records schedule. Basic knowledge of automated systems for tasks such as electronic mail, time and attendance reporting, internet, and multi-line telephone. -OR- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with related course work. -OR- You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education. GS-6: One (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include independently preparing general correspondence, entering time and attendance records in an automated payroll system, providing assistance in the completion of records review, inventories, and dispositions in accordance with records schedule. Additionally, a broad working knowledge of the functions related to budget and finance, natural resources, travel, timekeeping/payroll, correspondence, records, collections, and public contact. -OR- Successful completion of one full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position. -OR- You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. GS-7: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-6 level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include performing complex administrative support with general correspondence, entering time and attendance records into an automated payroll system, advising in the completion of records review, inventories, and dispositions in accordance with records schedule. Additionally, the ability to perform independent judgement to the following functions in budget and finance, natural resources, travel, timekeeping/payroll, correspondence, records, collections, and public contact. -OR- Successful completion of one full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position. -OR- You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
