Major duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Operate heavy gasoline or diesel-powered engineering equipment. Operate equipment on mountainous or steep terrain to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on projects. Operate a boom for placing pipe, hydrants, and other large objects in utility and road maintenance operations throughout the park unit. Load, secure, and drive equipment to and from project sites. Perform pre-trip safety inspections on engineering equipment.

WG-8 To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean and in order) Reliability and Dependability Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) WG-9 Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation) Ability to Operate Safely (Non-motor Vehicles) Reliability and Dependability as a Engineer Equipment Operator Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) WG-010 grade level Ability To Do The Work Of The Engineering Equipment Operator, WG-5716-10 Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out) Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Reliability and Dependability as an Engineering Equipment Operator, WG-5716-10 Condition of Employment (SCREEN OUT): You must possess and maintain a current Class A or Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License depending on the park position. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
