Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Office of Trade/Trade Transformation Office/Automated Commercial Environment Division located in one of the following locations Ashburn, VA Washington, DC Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Major duties

In this position you will support and advise acquisition program managers or other acquisition officials on various aspects of acquisition. This position starts at a salary of $102,415.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Typical duties include Implementing, coordinating, and overseeing a segment of a CBP acquisition program or supporting acquisitions staff related to acquisition; Developing, implementing, and monitoring management information systems for the analysis and tracking of program data; Assisting with developing briefings, presentations, and white papers for use by senior Program Management (PM) and Program Management Office Manager (PMO)or acquisition staff; Performing analysis/review of CBP acquisition programs, and their related documentation.

What you need to qualify

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Reviewing and analyzing acquisition program activities to ensure compliance with established CBP and DHS policies, procedures, and applicable regulations, utilizing standard data collection and reporting techniques. Compiling and updating requirements for acquisition projects by coordinating with team members and stakeholders and assisting in the preparation of supporting documentation for planning and budgeting purposes. Conducting research and assisting with analytical reviews of acquisition program documentation to identify trends, support process improvements, and contribute to the preparation of status reports. You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assessing and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of cargo processing capabilities based on knowledge of trade programs and operations, trade laws and regulations, and trade policies and procedures. Gathering, documenting, refining, and overseeing requirements for new cargo processing development projects and enhancements to existing program capabilities Planning and conducting special studies on trade analysis impacting existing program capabilities Using management tools (including computer software such as databases, Excel, OneNote, project planning tools, and program management methodologies) to resolve issues with planning, evaluation, and control. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 07/20/2026.
