What you'd do

You will serve as a COMBINED TRADES SUPERVISOR II in the Rigging and Operations Division (Code 740) of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major duties

You will plan on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of subordinate personnel and other resources under their control. You will update and maintain the Daily Lift Plan with current accurate information for the assigned project. You will participate with management officials and/or engineering personnel to develop qualitative and/or quantitative work standards. You will review and analyze work accomplishments, cost, and utilization of subordinates to evaluate work progress, control costs, and anticipate and avoid possible problems by recommending corrective action to superiors., You will support the Equal Employment Opportunity Program and take positive action to ensure and advance equal opportunity within the area of responsibility and applicable laws and regulations and communicates this support to subordinate.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise, performing duties such as: *Developing goals and objectives for rigging, rigger diver, and crane operations that align with overall organizational and equipment operation objectives. *Determining resource requirements, materials, and the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules. *Assigning and explaining work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors and set deadlines and establish the sequence of work operations to be followed. *Recommending promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors, make formal appraisals of their performance, and determine their training needs. *Ensuring the consistent application of all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
