HEALTH PHYSICIST
What you'd do
You will serve as a HEALTH PHYSICIST in the Radiological Control Office of PSNS and IMF.
Major duties
You will investigate, resolve, document, and reviews circumstances surrounding unusual dosimetry occurrences. You will prepare and evaluate reports of investigations, analyses and surveys to provide assessments, conclusions, and recommendations of program changes/modifications to fulfill the objectives. You will operate and maintain complex dosimetry processing systems. You will conduct personnel dosimetry investigations to determine personnel exposures in cases where malfunction of equipment or discrepancies are identified. You will implement and maintain complex analysis instrumentation and associated software and procedures for various types of routine and unusual radioactivity analyses. You will plan, lead, and provide technical assistance for the collection of routine and special environmental samples and survey data. You will lead the collection of a broad range of radiological surveys and samples necessary to assess the magnitude of the emergency and the risk to shipyard personnel and surrounding community.
What you need to qualify
For the GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Health Physicist analyzing radiological control processes to assess and investigate radiological issues to ensure radiological controls and prevent work stoppages. For the GS-09: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Health Physicist assisting in analyzing radiological control processes to assess and investigate radiological issues to ensure radiological controls and prevent work stoppages.
