Major duties

You will design, develop, test and evaluate radiation instrumentation and other devices utilized in the mission of the Naval Dosimetry Center. You will apply principles of the physics of radiation interaction, thermodynamics, optics, mechanics and electronics in accomplishment of the mission. You will exercise professional judgement and vision and utilize professional knowledge of fundamental scientific and engineering principles in the pursuit of critical work. You will test the reliability and stability of the devices to assure that adequate personnel dosimetry can be economically accomplished. You will prepare proposed, justified, documented determinations of acceptance or rejections of proposals submitted.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1- Experience utilizing knowledge in the areas of radiation dosimetry, the principles of radiation detection and measurements. 2- Experience demonstrating the capacity for sound independent work primarily in the application of professional knowledge and competence in the field of health physics concerned with the protection of persons and their environment from unwarranted exposure to ionizing radiation. 3- Experience interpreting safety regulations to recommend operational improvements for the radiation health program, and evaluates existing policies and standard operating procedures to implement necessary updates and advancements. 4- Experience utilizing skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), basic programming and utilization of databases.
