What you'd do

Security programs are essential to the accomplishment of the mission and goals of United States Attorneys' Offices (USAOs). EOUSA provides security program support for USAOs by supplying policy and procedural assistance for the implementation and conduct of all aspects of security programs in accordance with applicable statutes, Executive Orders and Departmental Orders, to ensure regulatory requirements and the unique needs of each office are met.

Major duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for planning, developing, providing, controlling, and evaluating the Department of Justice program for continuing legal training and education for both attorneys and support staff in the United States Attorney's Offices (USAOs), Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys and the Office of the U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA), and other components of the Department of Justice. Typical work assignments will include: Assists in developing data systems as necessary to respond to management information requirements. Ensures sensitive investigative data is handled in a secure and controlled manner to protect the interests of DOJ and safeguard the rights of the individual. Provides personnel security guidance and assistance to managerial and administrative personnel in EOUSA. Evaluates all investigations for compliance with regulatory requirements for scope, i.e., extent and components, as well as the adequacy and completeness of the material presented for purposes of evaluation. Conducts Adjudicative assessments involving cases exhibiting more complicated or serious issues by evaluating information from a variety of sources and reports.

What you need to qualify

GS-09: To be qualified at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in federal service assisting with personnel security actions; processing background investigations or clearance documentation; verifying eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information; applying personnel security policies or procedures; and providing customer support on personnel security requirements. OR Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.); or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. GS-11: To be qualified at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in federal service reviewing background investigations; determining eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information; interpreting and applying personnel security policies or regulations; resolving clearance-related issues; and providing technical guidance to employees and management on personnel security requirements. OR Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: A Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such degree or LLM. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full year. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
