RECREATION EQUIPMENT REPAIRER
What you'd do
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Area Shaw AFB, SC.
Major duties
Performs maintenance and repair of electrical and gasoline powered gardening equipment and travel trailers. Performs routine periodic maintenance and makes mechanical or electrical repairs of two and four-cycle gasoline powered engines i.e., log-splitter, roto-tillers, chain saws, aerators, lawn mowers, boats, etc. As required, replaces internal engine components, i.e., rings, pistons, valves, gaskets, rods, bearings, etc. according to manufacturer's specifications when required. In a timely manner prepares power equipment for seasonal storage. Cleans equipment, changes oil and drains gas from system. Changes oil, spark plugs, filters, belts as required. Checks all equipment and tightens loose components. Properly prepares campers, boats, and trailers for winter storage, such as draining water systems and cleaning interior. Properly prepares campers. boats, and trailers for summer use in a timely manner, i.e., checks and repairs as necessary electrical, propane, and plumbing connection/components, repacks wheel bearings, changes tires and other repairs as required. Effectively performs general maintenance throughout the season to ensure equipment is maintained in serviceable condition. Performs minor sewing in tents, tarps, and dining canopies as required. Performs maintenance on other items as required. Recommends contract repair of items not repairable in-house. Ensures all equipment is in clean, sanitized, ready to use status. Institutes, monitors, and documents a preventive maintenance and maintenance program for equipment items - which includes a system for keeping records, scheduling equipment for routine maintenance and keeping an inventory of known high-wear items (belts, filters, blades, etc.). Keeps work area in a neat and organized fashion. Performs customer service duties. Effectively issues recreational items and other equipment to customers. Properly instructs customers on safety rules, use and care of issue equipment. Thoroughly checks equipment when turned in for cleanliness and damages. Provides patrons prompt, courteous information for trips, programs, or other scheduled events. Maintains accountability of funds, resale items and equipment. Accurately records transactions and fees collected. Verifies accuracy against receipts on daily basis. Ensures cash tickets, receipts, etc., arc securely maintained. Promptly collects fees from patrons. Promptly prepares cashier reports and makes deposits. Prepares timely, accurate monthly activity reports as required. Conducts monthly and semiannually inventories and assists in the accurate control of issue equipment. Position is a Position of Trust. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty that includes, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Requires occasional travel. Performs other duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Have knowledge of equipment assembly to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair. Experience fixing small electrical or gasoline powered gardening equipment or similar equipment is required. Ability to read and interpret manufacturer's part lists, specifications, and repair manuals is required. Knowledge of types, use, care, and safety of recreational equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Cash handling experience is required. Subject to satisfactory completion of a physical. Subject to satisfactory completion National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). May be subject to an uncommon tour of duty. RV Maintenance and Repair Certification or other maintenance and repair certifications- Highly Preferred.
