This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), reporting to the Deputy Administrator, OIRA or Chief of Transportation, Justice, and Homeland Branch, OIRA. Major duties

As a Policy Analyst (Detail), GS-0301-12/13/14/15, your typical work assignments may include the following: Coordinates interagency review of regulations, guidance documents, and other regulatory notices from the Departments of Transportation, Justice and Homeland Security. Conducts analyses of these agency regulations and regulatory policies to identify and work with EOP officials and promulgating agencies to address significant regulatory, economic, legal, scientific, and privacy issues. Reviews Information Collection Requests pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act to ensure agency collections of information meet all requirements of the Act. Assists in objective qualitative and quantitative analysis of portions of regulatory documents and/or economic analyses to inform decision making. Assists in the development of recommendations to higher-level decision makers. Drafts succinct written products to describe and summarize analyses and recommendations. Assists in the development of strategies to improve the effectiveness of government regulatory policies. Reviews and interprets pertinent subject-related directives, proposed legislation, and policy documents. Identifies issues of contemporary and future impact on the organization and assists in the conduct of analysis and studies of their implications and alternatives. Collaborates with senior staff in the preparation of comprehensive position papers, briefing materials, etc. Develops presentations, briefings, speeches and articles for presentation to and by senior staff. Monitors OMB policy for assigned areas to ensure integration and compliance. Assists in providing critical feedback and recommendations to OIRA and OMB leadership regarding policy positions on national level regulatory and information collection strategic directives and policy statements.

What you need to qualify

GRADE REQUIREMENT: This is NOT a promotion. Applicant MUST currently be at the grade level advertised. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. For the GS-12: Must currently hold a GS-12 grade level or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience related to the duties listed in this announcement. For the GS-13: Must currently hold a GS-13 grade level or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience related to the duties listed in this announcement. For the GS-14: Must currently hold a GS-14 grade level or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience related to the duties listed in this announcement. For the GS-15: Must currently hold a GS-15 grade level or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience related to the duties listed in this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
