SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER
What you'd do
You will serve as a Supervisory Physical Scientist/Oceanographer in the Warfighting Support Center (NP2) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Major duties
You will provide leadership and direction for the Division so the required oceanographic, physical science and geospatial information necessary for planning and operations. You will advise management on difficult problems and propose options and alternatives. You will represent the Command at technical exchange meetings and make decisions on technical work problems presented by subordinate supervisors. You will participate with the Warfighting Center Director and other leaders in formulating scientific and administrative policy. You will make decisions on technical work problems and establish periodic peer review of completed projects prior to release to ensure quality and conformity to specifications.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience serving as a leader, performing routine assignments independently and providing goals for the division. Experience with a wide variety of remote sensing and image capabilities applied to oceanographic and environmental products for use in military operations, and/or strategic planning. Experience administering disciplinary actions and personnel actions involving supervisors and their subordinates. Experience serving as a subject matter expert at the departmental level for scientific and technical problems, including identifying and correcting deficiencies in a broad spectrum of multi-disciplinary and multi-source collection and analysis areas. Experience serving as a direct supervisor, including planning and assigning work, setting priorities, preparing schedules; and giving advice, counseling and instruction.
