Maintenance Mechanic
What you'd do
The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts. All of the duties described by this position may not exist in each location, but that should not preclude use of this position.
Major duties
Applies health, sanitary, and mechanical principles to operate and maintain water treatment systems, including microbiological and chemical processes. Operates treatment equipment such as hypochlorinators, filters, pumps, solution tanks, and valves for both surface and well water systems. Performs maintenance and repair on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment used in water and wastewater treatment operations. Executes a wide range of carpentry tasks, including constructing frameworks, modifying structures, installing interior/exterior finishes, and building cabinetry and countertops. Conducts electrical repairs by replacing faulty wiring and components, troubleshooting circuits, and interpreting electrical codes and technical drawings. Installs, modifies, and repairs plumbing systems and fixtures, using trade tools and techniques to ensure proper system layout, operation, and maintenance; operates heavy equipment for grading roads, clearing snow, and maintaining drainage systems. QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Knowledge of materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Vehicle Operation SCREEN OUTS: Minimum Qualification: Have experience that demonstrates the ability to perform most of the work as a Maintenance Mechanic at the journeyman level. At this level, I have performed the work without more than normal supervision. I have performed at this level in two of the following trades: Carpentry, Plumbing, Painting, Masonry, Water Treatment Plant Operations, or Roofing. Driver's License: You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
