THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a LINK UNIT MANAGER, Position Description Number T6387000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.

Major duties

As a LINK UNIT MANAGER, GS-0301-12, you will serve as the Link Unit Manager and technical expert/advisor for planning, coordinating and scheduling Tactical Data Link (TDL) operations, maintenance, and equipment for the Mobility Air Force (MAF) Wing. Within the MPC, provides oversight of TDL activities pertaining to the assigned unit and Air Mobility Command (AMC) in accordance with the duties outlined in AFMAN 13-116. Other duties as assigned. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

What you need to qualify

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year experience, education or training equivalent to the next lower level, in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to specialized knowledge of joint services TDL systems/equipment, and distribution of COMSEC in support of MPC and other deployment operations. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of military operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations. Physical Demands: The work may require some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or recurring activities such as bending, climbing, stooping, reaching to include off and on aircraft or mobile ground stations. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an adequately lit and climate- controlled office. Must follow all appropriate aircraft and/or mobile ground stations and safety precautions.
