These Electrician positions are located at Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Franscisco, CA. Please visit find a park for additional park information. This is a Permanent, Full-time, Competitive appointment. This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.

Major duties

At the full performance level (WG-10) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Locate distribution panels, boxes, circuits, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical devices to trouble shoot electrical problems. Use utility locator to locate underground conductors. Determine the proper and safe operation of electric lines, circuits, systems equipment and controls. Re-wire commercial and residential buildings, installs, maintains and repairs electrical equipment.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability To Use Electrical Drawings Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) Trouble shooting (Electrical) Your resume must show that you be able to perform the following duties under normal supervision: Troubleshooting of simple circuits both AC and DC systems; Bending pipe, installing light fixtures, pulling wire, and reading blueprints; Knowledge and ability to use electrical and electronic meters and tools associated with the trade If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
