ELECTRICIAN
What you'd do
You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN in Code 730 Maintenance Division Lifting and Handling Department 700 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will overhaul, install, modify, maintains and repair electronic and electrical components (i.e. control systems, safety devices, motors, voltage and speed regulating equipment, generators, wiring, and circuitry on all types of equipment. You will diagnose (troubleshoot), determine needed repairs, and accomplish the required restorations, with proper documentation, on a variety of electric-powered material handling and weight handling equipment. You will make repairs and electrical adjustments as necessary to ensure OEM, WHEM, and WHI standards are met and that the completed job meets all applicable safety standards. You will troubleshoot electrical systems, locates problems and correctly isolates faults to a component level. You will review the job assigned and determine the sequence of work and additional parts and material necessary to effect a completed repair job with a minimum equipment downtime.

The incumbent must have broad knowledge of electrical systems and equipment. Must have a detailed technical knowledge of work operations. Must understand operational theory, check out procedures and have knowledge and skill to perform electrician work. Must have the ability to articulate understanding, knowledge and skill to co-workers working on electrical systems.
