What you'd do

The Justice Buildings Services is responsible for performing functions with respect to the operations, maintenance, repair, preservation, alteration, furnishing, equipment and custody of the Robert F. Kennedy, Main Justice Building (RFK). This position independently works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance/repair manuals to install, modify, repair, and maintain routine electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures.

Major duties

The duties and responsibilities for a WG-2805-10 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: * Independently works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to install, modify, repair, and maintain routine and standard electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. * Utilizes secondary power distribution lines, and circuits to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase, and frequency requirements to distribution panels, power, and control circuits. * Troubleshoots, tests, and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. * Installs, modifies, repairs, loads, and tests systems, circuits, equipment and controls. * Plans and lays out trades work including the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, sand safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for the position of Electrician, at WG-2805-10, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below. In order to qualify for the position you must meet both the scree-out element for the grade level and the physical requirement. For the WG-10: Applicant will need to demonstrate in their resume of performing common Electrician tasks; installing wires, relays, circuit breakers, or other electrical devices. Utilizes electrical testing equipment to determine corrective action to repair electric power controlling equipment. Calculates common properties, such as voltage, resistance, or the ability of a system to store a charge. Reads building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and/or engineering drawings to install, modify, repair and/or maintain a routine and standard electrical lines, circuits or systems; and Physical Requirement Work may be performed in cramped or awkward positions, for which you must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and/or crawl to access work area and/or complete task. You may have to lift objects weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and upon occasion, in excess of 50 pounds. You MUST meet all qualification requirements by the 07/29/2026 of this announcement.
