Major duties
Oversees routine daily operations to ensure the analysis and documentation of all manufacturing waste from passport and secure card production. Ensures waste, returned passports, and returned secure cards from the U.S. Department of State's (DOS) issuing agencies and from various government agencies are documented. Assigns work and provides oversight and guidance to PPW’s and DITs ensuring the work is completed in compliance with security protocols. Conducts and ensures support staff are trained on proper inspection techniques, identification of defects and use of equipment in the Centers. Provides updates to the Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist on the status and progress of work, and all work delays.
What you need to qualify
To qualify for the Lead Documents Inspection Technician, PG-1801-9, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the PG-7 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, which includes: (1) Experience in quality control and quality assurance in a manufacturing environment including inspection of printing, binding, and lamination. (2) Demonstrated leadership experience such as mentoring/coaching team members, reviewing work, or establishing work priorities. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
