What you'd do

Explosives Enforcement Training Division manages and continually advances the agency's explosives programs in order to maintain the highest caliber of explosives criminal investigators and specialist in the explosives arena. To that end, EETD supports the Explosives Enforcement and Training Branch (EETB), Advanced Explosives Training Branch (AETB), and the Explosives Research and Development Branch (ERDB). EETD oversees Certified Explosives Specialists and the Bomb Technicians.

Major duties

The major duties of the Supervisory Criminal Investigator, (Explosives Enforcement and Training Division) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Serves as the Chief, responsible for law enforcement programs, functions, or operations encompassing the overall law enforcement mission of the organization to which assigned. Exercises full supervisory responsibilities and authority over Division Personnel; Responsible for assessing, developing, and evaluating program goals, needs, operations, and accomplishments; Conducts short and long range planning for overall Division goals and objectives; Plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees studies and surveys to evaluate Division Programs and ensure efficiency and economy of operations; Directs the coordination of project and programs with management official in other divisions within the Directorate, with management officials in other directorates at Bureau Headquarters, and with officials from the Department of Justice or other Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position Supervisory Criminal Investigator at the GS-15 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience must include all of the below: Assess, develop, and evaluate program goals, needs, operations, and accomplishments; AND Initiating, planning, and directing studies, surveys, operational reviews, or other projects to ensure efficiency and economy of operations; AND Advising and providing technical information on significant issues or matters pertaining to programs, program initiatives, and projects; AND Applying ATF law enforcement investigative techniques in order to direct a major field component of the Bureau.
