What you'd do

You will serve as a Technical Editor in the Naval Test Wing Atlantic Administrative Support Branch of NAVTESTWINGLANT NWCF.

Major duties

You will provide technical writing support in fields related to physical science and engineering and transform highly scientific and technical documentation into easily understandable language. You will provide editorial expertise to research, development, and test and evaluation scientific and engineering personnel during the writing stage of formal and informal technical publications, technical reports, and technical documentation. You will verify information and analyze and corrects= editorial problems in the document prior to it being entered into the technical review chain. You will edit technical documents to reflect proposed changes and provide sound rationale for those changes. You will scan, extract, organize, and interpret numeric information and statistical data into appropriate graphic forms.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09/10) grade level or pay band (DA-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Providing direct writing and editorial support to engineers, scientists, and other personnel who author technical and administrative publications; (2) Editing formal Technical Reports, Tailored Technical Reports, Technical Memoranda, Yellow Sheets, and a variety of other scientific and technical documents; (3) Integrating information in a variety of formats such as technical reports, proposals, test proposals, test procedures, manuals, and promotional/marketing materials, as well as developing written products to interpret and explain complex policies, programs, and findings; (4) Evaluating technical documents and making recommendations to the author regarding poor organization, incomplete presentation, improper format, inconsistent statements, unsupported conclusions, lack of clarity, unsatisfactory style, or grammatical deficiencies; and (5) Comparing report conclusions/ recommendations to sponsor tasking and highlighting and coordinating resolution of discrepancies, such as different findings or viewpoints referred to by subject matter experts during the document review cycle.
