What you'd do
This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to The Courses at Andrews golf course, Joint Base Andrews, MD. This is a Flexible position and may be scheduled 0-40 hours per week. The purpose of the position is to perform work which involves simple manual tasks that require light to moderate physical effort, and the use of simple hand tools used in the maintenance of the golf course and facilities. The position frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Major duties
Regular & Recurring Duties and Responsibilities: Performs simple golf cart maintenance, (i.e., replenishes fuel/charge levels, washes) readies golf carts for customer use, marks the course for cart control, moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs and may mark hazard and drop areas. Maintains ball washers, replaces tee towels, and flags when needed, removes debris, empty garbage containers, and cleans flowerbeds. Assists in the maintenance of course grounds and facilities using simple powered equipment such as clippers, weed trimmers, lowpressure sprayers, powered pavement vacuums, and wet vacuums or steam cleaners. Digs ditches, holes where grading and sloping is not required, fill holes with dirt and level bumps using shovels, hand tampers, and rakes. Digs holes for plants, irrigation system, and tee boxes. Performs other related work as assigned. EVALUATING FACTORS: Skill and Knowledge: A certain degree of manual skill is required in the safe use of hand tools and in operating simple power equipment. Continual care must be exercised by the incumbent due to the nature of the tools and equipment used, and weight of the objects handled. Responsibility: Supervisor provides general instructions for new tasks, after which incumbent may independently competes duties involving several distinct tasks or steps. Supervisor may check work in progress or review results of finished projects. Physical Effort: Moderately heavy physical effort is required in occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and in pushing heavy furniture, loading carts, etc. Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in all kinds of weather and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty and noisy. Mishandling of the equipment, tools and tasks involved may result in injuries that are more serious. Qualifying Experience: Ability to use, control, and clean common hand tools, and simple power equipment. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds, and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions.
