Major duties
You will develop and implement environmental protection programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, evaluate program effectiveness, and strengthen policies that protect natural resources and public interests. You will plan, coordinate, monitor, and manage environmental projects by balancing schedules, resources, funding, and technical performance while improving quality, efficiency, and measurable program outcomes. You will conduct inspections, evaluations, and corrective actions, prepare compliance reports, secure funding for environmental initiatives, and recommend practical solutions that support lawful and effective operations. You will organize engineering and environmental projects by establishing action plans, setting milestones, determining resource needs, coordinating with stakeholders, and tracking progress to achieve successful project completion. You will review changing environmental requirements, research technical publications, interpret new laws and policies, and provide informed guidance that supports responsible decision making and consistent regulatory compliance. You will assist organizational leaders by reviewing environmental documentation, preparing required compliance materials, supporting project planning, and performing additional duties that advance environmental stewardship and mission success.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: -Overseeing compliance operations of air quality, restoration programs, underground storage tank management, and/or hazardous material/waste - Knowledge of an array of environmental laws, rules, and regulations designed to protect natural resources -Knowledge of legislative initiatives in the environmental field, pollution control technology, and all applicable environmental laws, (air quality, water quality, spill response, tank management, soil science and related areas) -Clear understanding of how to collect of samples or data, refine testing methods, use of equipment or instruments to perform testing for scientific studies, operational programs, and basic and applied research. - Experience managing, preparing, and submitting a high volume of complex air permits and safety measures for industrial, commercial, or military stationary sources. -Technical skill in calculating emissions and preparing reports -Conducting audits, inspections and collecting operational data to verify compliance with regulations.
