What you'd do

The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. The position is located in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Office of Administration.

Major duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide technical advice and consultation to BLS managers and operating personnel, contractors and agents, cooperating State agencies, and other Federal agencies involved in or affected by BLS statistical program confidentiality policies Direct reviews of program and administrative operations to determine compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements Manage BLS activities related to the Freedom of Information Act, the Privacy Act, the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act, and the Confidential Information Protection and Statistical Efficiency Act Evaluate proposed legislation, regulations, and standards and advise the Commissioner and other top managers about their implications and the compliance action required Direct management studies and program reviews to: evaluate, advise on, and improve the effectiveness of work methods, procedures, and program operations

What you need to qualify

Specialized experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. GS-15: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-14, in the federal service. Specialized experience includes demonstrating ALL of the following: Conducting work applying the theories, principles, and practices of policies, including three or more of the following: the E-Gov Act, OMB Statistical Policy Directives, the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018, Freedom of Information Act, Paperwork Reduction Act, Federal Records Act, Emergency Management, Management Control, or Program Evaluation techniques as they apply to BLS programs; Liaising with other statistical agencies, statistical units, or other organizations such as the Office of Management and Budget, Government Accountability Office, or the Office of Inspector General; Leading work to improve programs and processes through studies, audits, or other types of review.
