What you'd do

About the Position The Health System Specialist provides support to the A. T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir VA, helping ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and facility operations. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD.

Major duties

Monitor the Military Healthcare System (MHS) for trends, analysis, and comparisons, gather and interpret data. Provide substantive management support in the areas of program cost analysis, annual and multi-year fiscal planning, and development of annual health promotion programs. Develop and/or assist with the implementation of metrics for program evaluation. Advise Supervisor of ongoing allocations that require re-budgeting due to changes in program staffing, new facilities, locations, requirements to maintain accreditation, or other situations. Monitor propriety of expenditure requests, use and reimbursement rate of budgeted funds. Monitor and/or coordinate personnel matters (e.g. recruitment and placement actions, removal and suspension actions, EEO complaints, denial of within grade actions, performance management, etc.). Manage, monitor and/or ensure Joint Commissions and required inspection compliance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing various healthcare systems and databases for gathering and interpreting data; performing analysis to support clinical practice initiatives; identifying problems with health care processes and recommend improvements; and monitoring annual budgets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
