What you'd do

You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) in the MILITARY PERSONNEL DIVISION - CODE 1170 of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Before applying, you're encouraged to learn more about federal human resources careers by visiting the HR Career Compass at: www.OPM.gov/HRCareerCompass.

Major duties

You will research and provide explanations regarding rules, procedures, and requirements to military employees. You will coordinate all military service record related inquiries and pay matters such as record entries, leave request, tax information, military pay inquiries, and government quarters and housing issues. You will conduct queries about entitlements and pay benefits, and evaluate and determine the validity of requests from members. You will oversee the permanent change of station orders processing system including overseas, new construction and sea duty screenings for all enlisted personnel, officers and their families. You will be the primary customer service point of contact for all military personnel assigned to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility and serviced activities. You will issue required and requested information to major claimants involving simple and complex issues. You will explore and recommend alternative solutions to complex problems.

What you need to qualify

GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-6) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing Human Resources (HR) services for military personnel that includes in and out processing, pay transactions, and advising others on the various rules and regulations pertaining to military personnel actions (e.g., service record entries, leave requests, entitlements and pay benefits, etc.) Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
