What you'd do
About the Position: This position involves performing a variety of carpentry work, including the construction and maintenance of wooden range-related equipment, minor building repair, and fabrication of items such as target frames, signs, and tent frames. The position also includes performing minor repairs on buildings and facilities, some electrical work, and maintenance on small engine equipment.
Major duties
Perform carpentry work such as construction and maintenance of all wooden range related equipment. Use a variety of hand and power tools typical of the carpentry trade. Plan and lay out work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blueprints and own knowledge of construction or repair. Inspect and perform minor repairs of range areas, training areas and bivouac areas. Inspect and perform organizational level maintenance on gas powered equipment.

WG-08 Minimum Qualifications (Screen-Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Carpentry Worker without more than normal supervision. -Perform common Carpentry Worker duties such as utilizing carpentry tools to perform carpentry repairs to buildings, structures and equipment. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Physical Effort: Work involves considerable amount of bending, stretching and working in cramped spaces. The employee is required to lift and carry weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier with assistance. Working Conditions: Work is performed both an inside shop and outside on the ranges. The employee is exposed to the prevailing weather conditions; hot & humid, cold & damp. The employee is subject to injury from working with hand and power tools. There is a possibility of electrical shock when working with electrical systems.
