What you'd do

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the 834th U.S. Army Transportation Battalion located in Concord, California.

Major duties

Develop, coordinate, and deliver classroom and field training programs. Evaluate trainee performance through testing, observation, and counseling. Maintain training records and ensure required certifications remain current. Develop and update lesson plans, training materials, and instructional aids. Control access to the installation by verifying personnel, vehicles, cargo, and visitors. Conduct patrols, inspections, and antiterrorism/force protection measures to safeguard facilities and assets. Respond to alarms, security incidents, and emergencies using appropriate security and law enforcement procedures. Operate security systems, surveillance equipment, and authorized lethal and less-lethal weapons. Respond to medical, fire, security, and hazardous material emergencies as a first responder. Provide CPR, AED, and basic first aid until relieved by emergency personnel. Preserve crime scenes, protect evidence, and assist with preliminary investigations. Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, medical, and emergency management personnel during incidents. Perform armed security guard duties protecting Military Ocean Terminal assets, personnel, facilities, and transportation systems.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experiences: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in providing security for people, buildings, equipment, or government property by controlling access, conducting patrols, and enforcing security rules; assisting with security training, employee orientation, and maintaining training records or certifications; using security equipment, communication devices, and other tools to perform security duties; writing reports, responding to incidents, and working with supervisors and others to resolve security issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
