NUCLEAR MECHANICAL SYSTEMS INSPECTOR (SHIPS)
What you'd do
You will serve as a Nuclear Mechanical Systems Inspector (SHIPS) in the Quality Assurance Department, Nuclear Inspection Division (Code 139), of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Major duties
You will ensure the cleanliness of reactor-grade and shipboard systems by performing occasional surveillance and final inspections before system closure. You will conduct mechanical, piping, and structural inspections, as well as pre-arrival and material condition assessments. You will maintain records of inspections performed, their results, and corrective actions taken according to local directives. You will prepare a Nuclear Deficiency Report to reject components, materials, workmanship, or procedures that do not meet specifications. You will maintain records on inspections performed, results of these inspections and corrective actions taken in accordance with local directives. You will test, certify, and review the acceptance of completed work related to nuclear reactor plant operations, refueling, and overhaul projects.
What you need to qualify
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
