What you'd do

About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for administrative operations with the Command Group of U.S. Army Transportation Command (ARTRANS), to include logistical, personnel management, document control, automation and integration activities in support of the Command Group, Head Quarters Staff, and Brigades.

Major duties

Provide advice, assistance, and coordination of a wide range of administrative services. Review and process correspondence incoming to the Command Group for content, proper coordination, correctness, prior to approval, and/or signature from Command Group leadership. Maintain/Update the Command Group Portal page. Work with Army Transportation Command (ARTRANS) Staff and visiting offices to build itinerary and details for the trips for the Deputy to the Commander (DTC). Draft briefing slides, talking points, and necessary documents for Deputy to the Commander's (DTC's) engagement during trips. Resolve a variety of problems related to staff actions. Evaluate the effectiveness of administrative policies, procedures and regulations and seeks ways to improve operations. Use various functions of several types of office automation systems utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite. Conduct fact-finding, data gathering, analysis of data, and recommends action to the Command which is supported by research and documentation. Serve as the Defense Travel System-Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (DTS-ODTA) for the Command Group to assist with overall DTS administration. Receive, review and analyze all suspenses/taskers and determines disposition.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Manage travel Defense Travel System (DTS) and credit card (GPC/GTCC) programs to ensure all purchases and travel requests follow Department of Defense (DoD) and Army rules. (2) Coordinate staff level projects such as conference and briefings; and (3) Interpret regulations to evaluate administrative processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Operations Program Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
