About the Position: The incumbent works under the general direction of the HQDA Chief of Staff Army, Army Special Programs Directorate, Washington, D.C.
Major duties
Plans, develops, administers, and coordinates both long and short-range complex security programs Manages the overall planning, formulation, and coordinating of SAP physical security matters with the HQDA Security and the Defense agencies. Performs lead action officer duties for developing, implementing, managing, and monitoring policies, instructions, and procedures for the ASPD personnel and technical security programs to reduce vulnerabilities. Provides overall safeguarding of national security information with emphasis on classified or other sensitive information originated or controlled by DA/DoD elements.

Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes applying multi-disciplinary security principles (e.g., physical, personnel, information security) within a Special Access Program (SAP) environment, assisting in the administration of security programs, including conducting reviews or implementing security procedures for the protection of SAP information, and coordinating security requirements for classified meetings, materials, or facilities in support of SAP operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12) Specialized Experience GS-14: One year of specialized experience which includes developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive security programs covering multiple disciplines (e.g., Program Protection, Physical Security, Classification Management) for Special Access Programs (SAPs), serving as a subject matter expert for the planning and formulation of SAP security policy and providing authoritative recommendations on complex security challenges, and leading security oversight reviews and assessments of SAP facilities and operations to ensure compliance and mitigate vulnerabilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12/13).
