This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1278000 and is part of the AASF located in West Jordan UT, with the Utah Army National Guard. IAW UTNGR 690-12 dated AUG 2022, Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTARNG. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Michael Holm. SHIFT: DAY, Mon-Thu, (possibility to become night shift in the future)
Major duties
Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE 32), WG-5378-11, you will: Serves as a Small Shop Chief. Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s). Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance. Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision. Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Performs the same type and level of work as performed within the unit. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Participates in various types of readiness preparations, inspections, evaluations, and mobilization and command support exercises. Performs additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to qualify

Minimum Requirements: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment. Specialized Experience: Have experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
