About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Major duties

Oversee all departments within the Law Enforcement Division Develop internal programs implementing new polices and procedures suited to depot needs. Oversee all branch training ensuring proper procedures are followed per–Army Regulations 190-56. Delegate tasks to subordinate supervisors affecting overall operations. Establish funding requirements for operating budget.

What you need to qualify

Conditions of Employment Continued: This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position requires the incumbent to be able to wear chemical-protection equipment. Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 1 year and 1 day. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes 1) Reviewing polices, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws; 2) Overseeing all branch training to ensure subordinates are properly trained; and 3) Developing personnel assignments based on workload requirements. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
