Supervisory Financial Management Specialist
What you'd do
The position is located within a CPAC, organizationally aligned under the Chief Operating Officer, serving as the Billing Manager for the third-party Revenue Program. The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to increase revenue within VHA using an industry best model built on regional management of key aspects of the revenue cycle, process standardization, accountability and economies of scale.
Major duties
Implements and manages all aspects of billing activities for clients and a wide range of stakeholders. Ensures the financial health and integrity of Billing practices, procedures, policies, and operations throughout the facility. Identifies negative and positive trends to assist in the development of strategies for revenue improvement. Provides guidance, enhancement, and direction in the development of billing software. Implementing an effective compliance program that trains employees in the proper execution of their duties and motivates them to comply with appropriate laws, rules, and regulations. Provides managerial guidance, direction and leadership. Actively providing input to the annual goal-setting process, contributing to the development of the final operating plan, and conducting on-going programmatic and multitude of factors. Preferred Experience: Prior or current CPAC supervisory/managerial leadership with experience in medical billing and coding. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm EST, Monday through Friday. What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/03/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience described below: Specialized Experience (GS-12): You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Implements and manages all aspects of billing activities for clients and a wide range of stakeholders. Provides guidance, enhancement, and direction in the development of billing software. Actively providing input to the annual goal-setting process, contributing to the development of the final operating plan, and conducting on-going programmatic and multitude of factors. Assigns work based upon program priorities, capabilities, and assignment requirements. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
