What you'd do

About the Position: Provide a variety of clerical, administrative and associated typing/automation duties related to processing and managing service order and work order authorization documents and information. Use a variety of commercial-off-the-shelf software applications and other web-based information systems.

Major duties

As the first point of contact, responsible for providing courteous and timely customer service to various customers. Manage the work order system and performs office automation work, which includes forms, reports, correspondence, electronic mail and personal computer or client-server applications. Ensure correct work documents are completed, maintains copy for record and refers requestors to appropriate offices/locations for further approval. Utilize automated office systems processes on a variety of narrative and tabular materials (e.g., correspondence, reports, forms, requisitions, statistical tables, etc. Use a variety of computer software regularly, including advanced features of Word, Excel, and Access, to format and process documents.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working in an office setting preparing a variety of narrative and/or tabular material; applying administrative practices and work processes to review documents for content, grammar and spelling accuracy; independently respond to routine and non-technical requests for information; disseminate information concerning new or changing administrative guidance; and utilizing automated systems such as word processing, spreadsheets systems in support of organizational assignments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
