Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL) - Maintenance Worker
What you'd do
You will serve as a Maintenance Worker at Coronado National Memorial. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 50 weeks in pay status, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. You will be in a non-pay status from approximately July 3rd through July 17th.
Major duties
Routine custodial sanitation of all employee and visitor use areas and facilities, including picnic area grounds and facilities and trails. Maintain, repair, or replace painting, carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing & utilities throughout the park, working independently or assisting higher graded employees. Operates a light truck to pick up supplies and transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work. Operates a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment not requiring special rigging This position is being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). Requirements Continued... As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. Upon completion of your probationary your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Knowledge of materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
