About the Position: This position is located a Fort Riley, Kansas. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Major duties

Provide guidance and advice on all critical subject areas within patient administration areas of responsibility. Develop solutions to complex health information management support issues and presents final actions or recommendations. Advise and consult hospital staff on patient administration issues, to include patient policies, eligibility, patient management, accountability, patient disposition, special category patients, and special circumstance patients. Ensure proper execution within the boundaries of policies and programs. Review performance evaluations made by subordinate supervisors on their employees. Take appropriate action to ensure the military treatment facility (MTF) complies and implements administrative activities through various committee actions. Review publications, regulations, bulletins, and other media of an informative, directive, or regulatory nature to ensure current procedural requirements and application of benefits are disseminated.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Supervisory Health System Specialist: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing and managing health care programs; monitoring facility performance and preparing reports; and coordinating with clinical and administrative leadership on healthcare administrative policies, programs, and operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
