About the Position: This position is a Physical Security Specialist for the Fort Bliss Directorate of Emergency Services. Fort Bliss is the home of the 1st Armored Division, FORSCOM deployable units, and has a full scope of base support elements. It is home to the U.S. Army Sergeant's Major Academy, William Beaumont Army Hospital, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Brigade Modernization Command, and Joint Task Force North. Major duties
Conducts acceptance tests for systems installed under contract. Incumbent will serve as the Fort Bliss subject matter expert (SME) for this system. Monitors daily operation of system to evaluate effectiveness, procedures followed and overall operation. Prepares operation instructions relative to the operation of the system. Provides technical advice to staff to ensure timely implementation of new systems and/or enhancements of existing system and conducts inspections and surveys of Army property and resources

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes) Manage alarm contracts as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) by overseeing contractor performance and or compliance with security. 2) Conduct security inspections by identifying deficiencies to recommend corrective action. 3) Monitor standard operating procedure guidance for installation security zones to support security protocol . 4) Analyze system problems to provide efforts to resolve system malfunctions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in Engineering in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships and depth in ICIDS and other physical security related disciplines. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
