What you'd do
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number T5793000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. This regional laboratory supports several National Guard wings throughout the Midwest.
Major duties
As an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC SUPERVISORY, WS-2602-12, you will perform work-planning responsibilities. Plan on a weekly or monthly basis the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials in an organizational segment or group. Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher-level supervisors. Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Redirect individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Maintain a balanced workload between subordinate work groups or individuals. Instructs and directs sequence of operations and methods employed by subordinates. Informs a higher -level supervisor of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources. Participate in meetings and discussions regarding initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work. Other duties as assigned. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
What you need to qualify
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
