What you'd do
This position is at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in the Office of Consumer Financial Protection. This position serves as a Consumer Affairs Analyst. This is an opportunity for current NCUA employees in a permanent position, to serve on a detail or temporary promotion, not to exceed 1 year with the possibility to be extended an additional year. This position may be made permanent without further competition.
Major duties
As a Consumer Affairs Analyst, you will: Assist in implementing and assessing programs and procedures involving NCUA's responsibility as enforcement agency for applicable federal consumer financial protection laws and regulations. Monitor recurring issues and adverse trends involving consumer financial protection found during investigation of consumer complaints and inquiries and inform the Director of Consumer Affairs of special issues and problems. Function as a resource for federal financial consumer protection laws and regulations affecting federal credit unions and coordinate with other NCUA offices on questions of interpretation or enforcement. Determine appropriate corrective actions to be taken by credit unions and follows up to ensure area(s) of non-compliance are corrected. Produce, analyze, interpret, and evaluate written reports and data required for the successful operation of the Consumer Assistance Center, including but not limited to, consumer complaint analytics, trends, regulations and laws, complaint resolution and investigation analysis and consumer compliance violations.
What you need to qualify
Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To qualify for the CU-12, all applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-11 level obtained in the private or public sector. Specialized experience for this position includes experience: 1. Assessing financial institution compliance with federal consumer financial protection laws and regulations during investigations or examinations; and 2. Intaking consumer complaints and determining purview with NCUA's supervisory and enforcement authority of federal consumer financial protection laws and regulations; and 3. Utilizing databases or other electronic record keeping and workflow management systems to manage case work. To qualify for the CU-13, all applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-12 level obtained in the private or public sector. Specialized experience for this position includes experience: 1. Assessing financial institution compliance with federal consumer financial protection laws and regulations during investigations or examinations; and 2. Drafting formal written correspondence to members of the public, Congress, or financial institutions concerning the interpretation of federal consumer financial protection laws and regulations; and 3. Utilizing databases or other electronic record keeping and workflow management systems to manage case work.
