RANGE SAFETY SPECIALIST
What you'd do
You will serve as a RANGE SAFETY SPECIALIST in the RANGE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT of MCAS CHERRY POINT.
Major duties
You will serve as the primary range safety subject matter expert for live fire activities on all Cherry Point ranges and training areas (RTA). You will manage and update authorized ordnance lists, weapon systems, safety data, employment parameters, survey data for firing points, current maps, and ground hazards for an in-depth library. You will be responsible for the certification and recertification of Cherry Point's RTAs. You will monitor the effectiveness and execution of the RTA inspection program, collect and track unit appointment documentation, and provide required weekly and on-call safety briefs. You will serve as the central departmental point of contact for Occupational Safety and Health and Explosive Safety programs.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing oversight of a Range Safety Program; planning individual, unit and combined arms live fire activities to include tactical training; AND providing range safety certification briefs and classroom training.
