ARCHAEOLOGIST
What you'd do
You will serve as an ARCHAEOLOGIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISON of NAVFAC Headquarters located in Washington Navy Yard, DC.
Major duties
You will be a subject matter expert in the planning, management, analysis, curation, and preservation of archaeological resources and related resources of importance to Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian Organizations, and Alaska Native Entities. You will provide cultural resources products and services to support the accomplishment of military actions and operations in compliance with cultural resources laws, regulations, and policies. You will support and guide the completion of cultural resources analyses for NEPA documents (such as complex EAs and EISs) to ensure integration with cultural resources laws and regulations, Executive Orders and DoD/DON policies. You will coordinate and collaborate with other agencies, organizations, and DoD commands on archaeological and Native American issues related to policy and program matters.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as a project manager and experience executing complex Navy Cultural Resource projects, including development of contractor scopes of work/performance work statements, government estimates, funds management, contractor proposal review and negotiation, contractor oversight, invoicing, and contracting officer representative (COR) duties, 2) Providing guidance, coordination and technical expertise on complex Navy Cultural issues and processes; and 3) Experience with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations, DON and DOW policies and processes related to Cultural Resources management Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0100/archeology-series-0193/ Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
