SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

Major duties
You will evaluate and conduct special studies of training techniques and lesson plans to ensure risk assessment and safety responsibilities are defined and administered. You will provide safety training and oversight of non-tactical operations. You will develop lesson plans, support materials, and training schedules. You will provide safety consultation and assistance to commanders, organizational safety managers, department heads, and supervisors in the application of Marine Corps safety programs. You will assist in the development of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
What you need to qualify
GS-11 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing occupational health and safety programs; conducting hazard assessments and mishap investigations; enforcing safety policies and procedures; implementing safety training programs; and advising on occupational health and safety regulations and practices. GS-09 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Supporting occupational health and safety programs, supporting hazard assessments and mishap investigations for a safety and occupational health program; preparing or revising safety instructions and guides; advising on occupational health and safety regulations and practices. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
