ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER LEADER
What you'd do
You will serve as an ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER LEADER in the PRODUCT DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Major duties
You will assign tasks to High Voltage Electricians, High Voltage Workers, and/or High Voltage Helpers to conduct switching evolutions on the electrical distribution system. You will develop and execute electrical switching orders to maintain uninterrupted power flow and isolate equipment for maintenance or repair. You will monitor load indicator gauges to detect large changes in load and operate turbo diesel generator controls, changing the governor setting, adapting to these load changes, and maintain the optimum demand on commercial sources. You will maintain a daily log which denotes any electrical switching, abnormal condition, or event which effects the electrical distribution system; and maintain a safety tag-out log, nuclear hold tag log, and caution tag log. You will provide on-the-job training to lower-level workers/trainees, initiate work and assigns tasks and set the pace for other workers and demonstrates proper work methods.
What you need to qualify
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Executing electrical switching orders to maintain uninterrupted power flow; 2) Maintaining safety tagout log, nuclear hold tag log, and caution tag log; 3) Ensuring supplies (i.e. plans, blueprints, materials, tools) are available; and 4) Operating phone or radio system to maintain communication with crews, supervisors, offices, vessels, suppliers, police, fire department, and various other groups.
